The Top 25

After a few night games this week, the NCAA gets back into it's full swing of things today with it's regular big slate of Saturday games.

BetBug of course has all your wagering needs covered, and better than that, before you bet your hard earned money, you can surf on over to BetBug Stats and get indepth matchup and preview information. Heck with access to all this info, even my mother could pick a few winners!

Ok perhaps not. But certainly anyone save 60 yr old, mathematically challenged females will find a wealth of knowledge and handicapping potential there at their fingertips.

T.O.

I mean really, what can one say.

Just ridiculous

My only concern about this entire thing is how it affects the Cowboys, -9.5 -105 at BetBug this week, going forward in their football.

Why anyone would care a whit about anything else to do with this clown is beyond me.

At least people like Kurt Cobain and Michael Hutcheson had the good grace to do the job right on their first attempt.

The Chase continues

NASCAR heads to Kansas Speedway for the Banquet 400 this weekend.

Jeff Burton is the new chase leader, thanks to his win in last weekend's Dover 400.

Can Burton hold of Gordon, Kenseth, and Hamlin? Hard to say. Certainly Kenseth will take alot of beating this week. But Burton has had a very consistent season and you never know.

BetBug's NEXTEL CUP ODDS 3 races into the Chase:

KENSETH +300
GORDON +350
HARVICK +400
BURTON +450
HAMLIN +500
JOHNSON +1200
EARNHARDT JR +1200
MARTIN +1200
KAHNE +3000
BUSCH +3500

For a great resource to check on your favourite driver's record and especially his head to head results vs. other drivers, check out BetBug's great Stats site BetBug Stats. You and your ablitity to prognosticate matchups correctly will be very glad you did.

R.I.P.

One of the giants from the world of golf passed away yesterday. Byron Nelson won 5 majors during his career, which alone is a rather large accomplishment. But of course what he was best known for was his streak of 11 straight PGA Tour wins in 1945. A feat which today just boggles the mind.

Tiger Woods has in fact won 5 in row right now, and in England this week he is +250 at BetBug to win the AMEX Championship. And while he may well do it, the thought of him winning this plus his next FIVE MORE tournaments, just to tie Lord Nelson's record, well that almost seems impossible in this day and age.

Pretty in Pink

Well, the States may have the World's #1, #2, and #3 players but when it comes to the Ryder Cup, there are not just inferior, they are nowhere.

And I must admit, I was wrong. I thought with Woods and Mickelson et al, the Americans finally this time would at the very least put up a proper showing.

Uh...ya...18.5 - 9.5 OUCH.

In two years hence, if you see www.BetBug.com with odds on the Euro's as the favorites at Valhalla, and someone tries to talk you out of backing them, just keep betting. The US may never win another one of these things. At least not until Sergio is old and decrepit at any rate.

He may not be able to win Majors, but he sure as hell can play team golf.

Little troll though he may be.

WEEK 3

Talk about short memories. At BetBug this week, the Steelers are lowly 2 point favorites AT HOME against Cincinnati.

Just because the Steelers had a tough game last week against the Jags (nationally televised...), everyone and their mother seem to be jumping off the bandwagon.

These are still the defending Super Bowl Champions folks. And they are on home turf. They didn't just forget how to win. Laying less than a FG with the Champs just strikes me as shockingly low.

I think Mr. Palmer's great start to the season is about to come to a screeching halt and the champs are going re-establish themselves today in Pittsburgh.

www.BetBug.com has all your NFL betting needs ready to go today, so don't wait till it's too late and they're about to kick off, get your action in now.

USC - dirty, dirty, dirty

Well with all the revelations coming out of Southern Cal lately, I guess we can all see why they were such a force the last 3 college football seasons.

The people of LA don't need a pro team because, for heavens sake, they've got USC, where heck, even if they are a college team, they pay their players anyway!

Well let it not be said we are silly enough to ignore this. www.BetBug.com has the semi pro Trojans as fairly massive 21.5 point favorites today on the road against Arizona.

And while USC may well be forced to forfeit some of their prior wins, the gambling public certainly does not have to forgo any of the cash this pro team made them.

The White Cliffs of Dover

Well last week's race saw Kevin Harvick scooting between cars to grab the lead and then run away and hide from the rest of the pack and take over the lead in the Chase for the Cup.

This week sees the boys return to Dover in what should be another great race and probably even better finish.

One man who did himself some serious harm last week was Jimmie Johnson. By finishing way up the track last week, he is now really up against it. And for an example of how just one bad finish can completely wreck your chances in this ten race sprint to the finish, just check Carl Edwards from last year.

This week, www.BetBug.com has Dover 400 Odds up that look like this:

Kenseth +650
Harvick +800
Stewart +800
Gordon +900
Johnson +1000
Kyle Busch +1000
Biffle +1200
Hamlin +1200
Earnhardt +1200
Edwards +1400
Kahne +1400
Martin +1800

If I were a betting man...I could probably be convinced to grab a bit of that 18-1 on Mark Martin. Seems like value. Then again, he is also my favorite driver and everyone's sentimental pick to win this thing. So tread lightly.

THE RYDER CUP

One of Golf's Bi-Annual traditions takes place this weekend at the K-Club hard by the hills of Kildare, Ireland.

The Euros come in having dominated this event in recent years, especially two years ago in Michigan. Everyone assumes that the Euros will come together, find a way, bond, drink, and then go out and kick some Yankee ass. But lest we forget. Team USA have the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd ranked players in the world. There is no way they are going to be the walkover everyone expects.

www.BetBug.com offers:

TEAM EUROPE -120
TEAM USA +120
TIE +900

You could not pay me enough to back the Euros as favorites in this event, no matter how great their team "feeling" is. Class eventually comes to the fore and I think this weekend, we will see the Yanks step back up to the plate in a big way and crush Team Europe.

Which of course will set things up nicely for Faldo to Captain the team in 2008 back in America and restore glory for his side.

Too Bad Irish

I guess Wait till Next Year eh Mr. Quinn.

Loser.

Go blue!

Monday, September 18, 2006

Gee, what a surprise

Culpepper sacked 7 times. Dolphins lose home opener to the (gasp) Bills. I don't want to say I told you so, but I TOLD YOU SO.

This guy is a loser. The only reason he was ever good in Minnesota was due to Randy Moss being the most talented (but not best) wide receiver the league has ever seen.

Miami was ready to ascend to elite team status this year if they had just sucked it up and signed Dree Brees (who's team is 2-0 I hasten to point out). Instead, they are now wallowing in the ranks of the winless and fans across South Florida are chanting that which those in the Motor City would find most unbelievable to hear:

WE WANT JOEY HARRINGTON!

You know it's bad when...

Enough Already with the Ravens

They have played but a single game here folks. Yes Baltimore looked very impressive last weekend. Yes they finally appear to have some competance at the Quarterback position. But let's all just settle down. McNair is but one twist on his gimpy back or knees away from being out for the season. Hardly a good enough reason then to take the 20-1 on offer at www.BetBug.com for Billicks' team to win it all.

In fact just for the very fact that everyone is all over them this week, I love the Raider to squeak out a little back door cover in this one at +12 -105 on the www.BetBug.com line. This is still the offensively challenged Ravens folks. And you're expecting them to cover laying double digits?

No thanks.

LET THE CHASE BEGIN

I still cannot believe Tony Stewart did not qualify for the Nextel Cup. But that, as they say, is why they play the games, or to put it more accurately, run the races.

New Hampshire this week begins the 10 race sprint to the Chase. Who do I like? Hell who knows! Considering how NASCAR reseeds the top 10 so that they are all within 45 points of one another, handicapping this field presents quite a challenge. If you put a gun to my head (and I'm fairly certain you could find some ladies out there who would love to do just that) I'd probably lean to Johnson, but at his odds of +400 at BetBug I just do not see any value.

Let's be honest here, the only man I am cheering for in this is Mark Martin. He is 18-1 at www.BetBug.com, it is his final year of racing, and could you imagine the story if after finishing second so many times, he finally was able to win the damned thing.

Plus, how the hell can you cheer against a man sponsered by Viagara!

Should be a very interesting last two months.

NCAA WEEK 3

Well two weeks in the books, and it's looking fairly clear that the pre-season polls, for once, were rather accurate. OSU demolished Texas last week, in Texas, and justifiably are #1 again this week. Www.BetBug.com has the team itself at +425 to win the BCS and has it's star QB Troy Smith as the +275 Heisman favourite. You can also get Ted Ginn, their all world Wideout at +1200 for the Heisman.

Clearly though, the bet to make is to win the BCS. Even if OSU goes undefeated, I could see a certain Notre Dame Fighting Irish pretty boy scooping up the Heisman on just sheer media hype alone. You can almost feel how much everyone wants to give the trophy this year to Brady Quinn. He's +300 at BetBug, just slightly longer than Smith.

I personally think the media are just getting confused by his first name. This isn't Tom Brady. It's Brady Quinn. And while he might in fact win the award, he's certainly got a long way to go to compare to New England's sure fire hall of fame Michigan Alum.

Speaking of which, the Maze and Blue happen to play Mr. Quinn and the Irish this weekend. The line is ND-5 -105 at BetBug and it would not surprise me at all to see Brady on the sidelines, where I can assure you he will not be cheering for his old cooridinator or his new impersonator.

Go Blue.

And Down Goes TIGER!

Well it had to happen sooner or later. Early this morning Tiger was knocked out of the World Match Play. Not that this should be big news. But when you have won everything you enter for the last two months, it is!

Although, to be fair to Mr. Woods, this was not a stroke play tournament, it was match play, which by definition is a good deal more volatile.

If nothing else, this probably just pumps him up more for the Ryder Cup next week, which is not great news for the Euros, but it could be good news for anyone who jumps on BetBug's juicy +120 odds for Team USA to win.

Monday, September 11, 2006

Oh so Pretty

Well I still think she looks like an ostrich, but I guess I'll have to give her props for beating clearly the two other best players in the draw, Mauresmo and Hennin.

Sunday, September 10, 2006

Brother, can you spare a TD pass or two...?

Well well, look which matchup tops the opening Sunday of the regular season.

Manning vs Manning. Indy vs NY.

www.BetBug.com has the older Manning as a 3 point favourite but listen up. You heard it here first. This will be the younger Manning's night. I love the boys in blue here.

Lets Get The Party Started

Opening Night to kick off the 2006 NFL Season is upon us. And you will never guess who NBC has decided, in their infinite wisdome, to make the voice of their new Football Night In America.

Not Hank Williams Jr. that's for sure.

Make sure to check out www.BetBug.com your one stop destination this year for all your NFL wagering needs. You can't beat the lines and best of all, if you're not happy with a price, you can just put up your own!

I do wonder though, how happy Mr. Tagliabue and whomever the league chooses for his replacement will be with Pink as the new Voice of their league???

God love her!

A WILD Wild Card

Well I may hate it, but the the wild card has certainly added quite a bit of interest to this year's National League. There are what...about 8 teams within five games of each other. All trying to hop over one another and qualify for the playoffs. www.BetBug.com has odds for them all to win the National League, but be forewarned. There's a reason they call it a Wild Card. Because you were not good enough to win your division. Tread lightly. The Mets and Cards still await whomever takes this down.

RYDER CUP

The 2006 Ryder Cup is being contested at the K Club in Kildare, Ireland. Coming off their embarrassing blowout loss two years ago in America, Team USA is actually the underdog to the Europeans here.

BetBug has:

USA +115
EUROPE -125
TIE +900

Now, I'm sorry, but this is backwards. I don't care how little comradary or bonding Team USA doesn't have, or how close the Euro's are.

The Americans have Woods and Mickelson, far and away the two premiere players in the world. This is not to say that the USA is a lock but this line is clearly reversed. I love the US in two weeks.

Over Rated

So let's see. Matt Leinart has been boozing it up with Paris Hilton, et all, in Vegas while at the same time apparently the young man has also still been "seeing" his ex, a Trojan hoops girl, back at USC.

And now he has a little bundle of joy on the way.

Leinart is going to go down in history as the most over-rated QB prospect of all time. And one of the biggest busts of all time as well.

Although I will give him this. He does seem to have good taste in the ladies.

Now Why Doesn't This Suprise Me.

This guy must really like that Choke Hold. Now intead of doing it to Carlesimo, he's moved on to helpless females.

Nice job Latrell, nice job.

Idiot.

Go Team!

Ah...my favourite time of year. The commencement (pun intended) of College Football. The teams, the game, the grid iron, and of course...the cheerleaders.

No wonder alumni journey far and wide each Saturday just to get back in touch with their school.

I'm already on record this year as liking Louisville and Michigan to win it all, having bet them with BetBug at 30:1 and 23:1 respectively.

But no matter who you like for the BCS, there are 4 months of great action to savor just to get to January 8th. Do enjoy!

The Deutsche Bank

Only Tiger Woods could get the PGA to move a golf tournament to a Friday start time. But that is just what he has down. Since it is Labor Day Weekend I suppose it make some semblence of sense, but especially if your #1 Star and drawing card wishes it.

Well good luck to them. I think it's silly.

What's also rather ridiculous are Woods' odds to win this week. at BetBug he's +155 against a full field of PGA professionals. I don't care how well he's been playing, this is ridiculous.

How about looking for a bit of value, like VJ at +1600 instead.
